Where to Find Cool Cars in GTA 5 Story Mode (Free Spawns vs Buy)

The cool cars in GTA 5 Story Mode fall into three groups: cars you steal from known spawn spots, cars you can only buy on the in-game internet, and cars a mission or race unlocks. Per the GTABase vehicle database, the Adder, Zentorno, Infernus, Turismo R and Banshee can all be found on the street, the Entity XF and Z-Type are buy-only, and the Bullet and Massacro cannot be bought at all. Below you get each car’s spawn spot, price and top speed, so you know whether to hunt or pay.

Two things earlier versions of this page got wrong are fixed here: the Entity XF is not handed to you by killing a character in a mission, and the Z-Type is not parked on a Vinewood Hills driveway. Spawns in this game are random, so every location below is a place to check, not a guarantee. All figures come from the sources named at the end of the page, read in October 2026.

Best Locations For Rare Cars

Before the car-by-car list, it helps to know which parts of the map spawn expensive cars at all. TheGamer’s spawn-location guide, which we read for this update, singles out these areas:

That last point is worth remembering: a fast car stolen in front of witnesses costs you a wanted level. A quiet Rockford Hills road is a better place to take a supercar than a crowded beach.

Sportskeeda notes that its listed spots and time windows come from the game files, but the game decides what actually spawns. If a car is not there, leave the area for a while and come back, a trick TheGamer also recommends.

Zentorno time-window spots

The Zentorno has the longest spawn list, and many of its spots only work at certain hours. These are Sportskeeda’s entries, in game time:

Cars You Can Only Buy or Unlock

Some of the coolest cars never appear on the street. GTABase lists these as buy-only in Story Mode: the Entity XF ($795,000), the Pegassi Monroe ($490,000), the Progen T20 ($2,200,000), the Pegassi Osiris ($1,950,000) and the Truffade Z-Type ($10,000,000). The Pißwasser Dominator works differently: you unlock it by winning the third Stock Car Race.

Correction: the Entity XF and the Z-Type

Older versions of this page said you obtain the Entity XF by killing Sebastian as Michael in I Fought the Law, and that the Z-Type sits near the Vinewood Hills mansions. Neither claim matches the sources we read. GTABase says the Entity XF is available to buy after that mission, and lists the Z-Type as buy-only. We could not confirm either old claim in any source, so they are removed. If you see something different in your own game, trust what the in-game store shows.

How to buy a car

• Open the Internet from the in-game smartphone and go to Legendary Motorsport (Sportskeeda’s Banshee guide walks through this: pick the car, choose a colour, click Order).
• Make sure the character has a personal garage. Sportskeeda notes the Zentorno purchase requires a garage to store it.
• Sources differ on the storefront for some cars: Sportskeeda sends the Infernus to Southern San Andreas Super Autos at $440,000, while GTABase lists Legendary Motorsport. Check both sites if one does not show the car.

Hunt or Buy: What Each Option Costs

The four supercars with street spawns are the Adder, Zentorno, Infernus and Turismo R. Buying all four at the GTABase Story Mode prices would cost $2,665,000 ($1,000,000 + $725,000 + $440,000 + $500,000). Finding them costs only time. The Banshee is the cheap one: at $90,000 it is affordable enough to buy if you cannot find one.

A price warning on the Banshee: Sportskeeda quotes $105,000 at Legendary Motorsport, but GTABase shows $105,000 as the GTA Online price and $90,000 as the Story Mode price. We use the Story Mode figure.

Hidden Car Locations: Secret Parking Spots

Fixed car parks are the closest thing to secret car locations in this game, because the spawn tables favour them. From TheGamer’s guide:

• Del Perro Pier car park: follow the arrows left into a mid-sized lot. Hit and miss, but often one or two fast cars.
• Puerta Del Sol Marina car park, La Puerta: the most reliable lot for supercars.
• Chumash, Barbareno Road: mid-level cars outside most houses, often a 4×4, but residents call the police if they see you.
• Sandy Shores: dirt bikes, quad bikes and dune buggies near Trevor’s trailer and airfield, not supercars.

Fastest Cool Cars You Can Get Without Buying

If speed is the goal, the free options are better than the price tags suggest. Using GTABase’s fully-upgraded top speeds (tested by Broughy1322), the fastest cars you can steal in Story Mode are:

Tips For Finding Rare Cars

• Leave and return. If the spot is empty, go elsewhere for a while and come back (TheGamer).
• Match the time window. Several Zentorno spots only work at set hours.
• Try the Turismo R trick for the Infernus. Sportskeeda says driving a Grotti Turismo R you own raises the Infernus spawn chance. This is a community observation, not an official mechanic.
• Do not expect every car in every car park. TheGamer stresses that vehicles are not guaranteed to spawn.
• Version note. GTABase says its list covers PS5, PS4, Xbox and PC, and Sportskeeda mentions an enhanced-edition Banshee interior. We did not find a source comparing spawn tables between the Legacy and Enhanced PC versions, so check in-game if a spot is empty.
